As the Elite Level Coach /Technical Lead, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, duties will include, but are not limited to:

Coaching

National and Elite Stream Group:

  • Holistically contribute to the growth of each gymnast as a person
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of gymnasts
  • Nurture and develop gymnasts’ potential skills and abilities
  • Motivate and prepare gymnasts for competitive events
  • Direct gymnasts during athletic events; provincial, national and international travel required
  • Analyze and evaluate gymnasts’ performances and modify training programs
  • Observe and evaluate gymnasts’ skills and performance, and review their past record
  • Set training schedules: weekly, monthly, yearly for competitive team
  • Participate in parent/coach meetings

Developmental Group:

  • Assist (time permitting) with coaching and athlete assessments
  • Guide Developmental Coordinator in development of training plans according to overall program goals

 

 Strategy 

Formulate competitive strategy /direction for the entire Women’s Program.

National Stream Group

  • Plan, develop and implement training and practice session
  • Plan, develop and co-ordinate competitive schedules and program
  • Assess and implement conditioning and power program
  • Consult regarding equipment needs

 

Knowledge Sharing  

Provide coaching clinics for Women’s Program staff.

  • Conduct clinics (monthly or as required) to share best practices focusing on beam, bars, vault, floor and trampoline
  • Assess needs and conduct clinics on other specialized applicable topics

 

Education 

  • Completion of a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in related field
  • National Coaching Certificate Level 3
  • National Coaching Certificate Level 4 or FIG Level 3
  • Respect in Sport Certified
  • Current and up to date CPR/First Aid Certification

 

Experience 

  • 10 years experience in national/international women’s artistic gymnastic coaching
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within women’s competitive gymnastics
  • Strong technical knowledge of women’s artistic gymnastics
  • Experience coaching athletes to Olympic/World Championship level

Strategy

  • CCP Level 7- 9 group – help formulate competitive strategy including the planning and development of training sessions, schedules, programs and competition.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Attend and contribute to coaching clinics for Women’s Program staff
  • Ensure consistency in coaching of technical program as mandated by the Technical Director, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Education

  • Minimum National Coaching Certificate Level 2 or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience in CCP Level 7 and up coaching women’s artistic gymnastics
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, technical knowledge, and spotting in women’s competitive gymnastics
  • Proven ability to develop gymnasts 8 to 17 years of age to a CCP competitive level 7 to 10

Coaching

  • Provincial Group – Provincial 2 to 4
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of gymnasts

  • Motivate and prepare gymnasts for competitive events
  • Direct gymnasts during athletic events; Provincial and Western.

MAINTENANCE & BUILDING SUPPORT

Job Title:                                  Maintenance and Building Support – Part Time position (both locations)

Job Description:                    Responsible for performing multiple repair and maintenance tasks throughout the day. These may include, but are not limited to: carpentry work, plumbing, painting, HVAC maintenance, flooring, outdoor landscaping and snow removal, general facility repairs and operational support. Must have own transportation.

*This job has the possibility to grow in responsibilities and duties and compensation. Some training will be provided at the outset. Candidate must have own transportation

Hours of Work:                     Monday – Friday – 5-6 hours per day with occasional variations to shift as required.

Start Date:                             Immediately

 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facility and small equipment repairs: doors, doorknobs, locks, painting, etc.
  • Gymnastics equipment inspection and small repairs
  • Carpentry and general construction: woodwork, sanding, painting, shelving, etc.
  • General plumbing: toilets, faucets, fix leaks, etc.
  • Outdoors: landscaping and snow removal; sidewalks and driveways, etc.

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance are required.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR - Part Time position (West Location)

Job Title:                          Office Administrator – Part Time position (West location)

Job Description:            The Calgary Gymnastics Centre is looking for a skilled, part time (alternating weeks) office administrator for our WEST location. This position is the front line of contact for our members, customers and staff with customer service being an integral part of our organization.

In addition to providing excellent customer service you will help to ensure that our office operations run smoothly.  Interested applicants must be comfortable interacting with people, have excellent communication skills and be able to carry out administrative duties with accuracy and speed.

Hours of Work:             Days (Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 5:00, alternating weeks, 40.0 hrs per week)

Start Date:                      November 1, 2023, possibly sooner

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe workspace/environment
  • Greeting and assisting all customers, CGC staff, coaches, volunteers in the office immediately upon arrival and assist with their queries
  • Assist with the registration of athletes in recreational programming, events or activities
  • Provide information to customers regarding various programming, while taking the time to answer any/all questions
  • Follow all office work flow procedures
  • Supports all programs at the gym with various administrative tasks as required
  • Answer all incoming telephone calls and redirect as appropriate
  • Monitor and respond to all e-mails in a timely manner (re-direct as appropriate)
  • Be available to work/fill in at either location as required
