Elite Level Coach & Technical Advisor, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Job Title:          Elite Level Coach & Technical Advisor, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Reporting To:   Program Director, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Hours:                 Full-time

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Elite Level Coach /Technical Lead, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, duties will include, but are not limited to:

Coaching

National and Elite Stream Group:

  • Holistically contribute to the growth of each gymnast as a person
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of gymnasts
  • Nurture and develop gymnasts’ potential skills and abilities
  • Motivate and prepare gymnasts for competitive events
  • Direct gymnasts during athletic events; provincial, national and international travel required
  • Analyze and evaluate gymnasts’ performances and modify training programs
  • Observe and evaluate gymnasts’ skills and performance, and review their past record
  • Set training schedules: weekly, monthly, yearly for competitive team
  • Participate in parent/coach meetings

Developmental Group:

  • Assist (time permitting) with coaching and athlete assessments
  • Guide Developmental Coordinator in development of training plans according to overall program goals

 

 Strategy 

Formulate competitive strategy /direction for the entire Women’s Program.

National Stream Group

  • Plan, develop and implement training and practice session
  • Plan, develop and co-ordinate competitive schedules and program
  • Assess and implement conditioning and power program
  • Consult regarding equipment needs

 

Knowledge Sharing  

Provide coaching clinics for Women’s Program staff.

  • Conduct clinics (monthly or as required) to share best practices focusing on beam, bars, vault, floor and trampoline
  • Assess needs and conduct clinics on other specialized applicable topics

 

Education 

  • Completion of a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in related field
  • National Coaching Certificate Level 3
  • National Coaching Certificate Level 4 or FIG Level 3
  • Respect in Sport Certified
  • Current and up to date CPR/First Aid Certification

 

Experience 

  • 10 years experience in national/international women’s artistic gymnastic coaching
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within women’s competitive gymnastics
  • Strong technical knowledge of women’s artistic gymnastics
  • Experience coaching athletes to Olympic/World Championship level

COMPETITIVE COACH, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Job Title:                       Competitive  Coach, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Reporting to:               Program Director, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Position:                       Part-time, 21+  hours per week, including evenings and weekends

Salary:                          Commensurate with experience

Coaching

  • CCP Level Groups – full range of coaching responsibility for competitive gymnasts JO Level 7-9, and competitive development
  • Aid with Developmental Program where required

Strategy

  • CCP Level 7- 9 group – help formulate competitive strategy including the planning and development of training sessions, schedules, programs and competition.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Attend and contribute to coaching clinics for Women’s Program staff
  • Ensure consistency in coaching of technical program as mandated by the Technical Director, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Education

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in related field
  • Minimum National Coaching Certificate Level 2 or equivalent
  • Respect in Sport Certified
  • First Aid/ CPR

Experience

  • Experience in CCP Level 7 and up coaching women’s artistic gymnastics
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, technical knowledge, and spotting in women’s competitive gymnastics
  • Proven ability to develop gymnasts 8 to 17 years of age to a CCP competitive level 7 to 10

Reporting to:                           Program Director, Technical Director Men’s Program

Position:                                    Part-Time, 20 hours per week, with opportunity for Full-Time (with benefits)

Salary:                                        Commensurate with experience

Date:                                           May 8, 2023

 

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Provincial Level Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Coach, duties will include but are not limited to:

Coaching

  • Provincial Group – Provincial 2 to 4
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of gymnasts
  • Nurture and develop gymnasts’ potential skills and abilities
  • Motivate and prepare gymnasts for competitive events
  • Direct gymnasts during athletic events; Provincial and Western.
  • Analyze and evaluate gymnasts’ performances and modify training programs.
  • Observe and evaluate gymnasts’ skills and performance, and review their past record
  • Participate in planning training schedules, weekly, monthly, yearly for competitive team
  • Participate in parent/coach meetings
  • Foster healthy minds, healthy bodies, and healthy journeys in pursuit of excellence
  • Developmental – SuperKids
  • Assist (time permitting) with the Development of athletes ages 3.5 to 6 years old
  • Follow and adhere to the SuperKids philosophy and training plans.

 

Knowledge Sharing

  • Monthly meetings and Strategic planning
  • Participate in meetings (monthly or as required) to share group progress and training updates with the coaching team
  • Report SuperKids updates to Program Director

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education

  • National Coaching Certificate Level 2
  • Respect in Sport Certified
  • Current and up to date CPR/ First Aid Certification

 

Experience

  • 5 years experience in Developmental or Provincial level coaching
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Men’s competitive gymnastics
  • A good understanding of technical aspects of Men’s gymnastics
  • Experience coaching/taking athletes to competitions
